Sydney has a deep appreciation for the amazing vessel each human body is, and considers each one a gift. She is fascinated by the physical and mental potential that exists within the human body, inspired through years of playing sports and growing up outdoors, singing, working and parenting. She attended The Brenneke School of Massage and completed her 1000 hour program in 2008. Sydney really values the art of Massage Therapy and the vast array of styles and techniques that her practice offers. Her style is energetic, grounding and impactful, incorporating a range of modalities including Swedish/Deep Tissue, Table Thai Massage, Active and Passive techniques, and fascial engagement. Sydney’s touch is mindful and engages through the various layers of the musculoskeletal system with intention and purpose that is incredibly healing.
My goal is to help everyone feel at home in their body, and to have that home feel as comfortable as possible. While every session is unique, each appointment rests on a trauma-informed foundation that involves nervous system integration and regulation. Whether doing direct structural work or deep energetic work, clients always leave relaxed, relieved and revived. Even though naps occur frequently on my table, my work is consent driven, and through careful communication, I provide education that promotes longer lasting and sustainable changes for the body, mind and spirit of every client.
My journey as a bodyworker was catalyzed by my own participation in somatic trauma work. The sense of sovereignty and serenity that followed my return to home in body, mind and spirit illuminated and codified a lifelong passion for bodies and inspired a dutiful desire to help the people within them feel the best they possibly can. Formerly a research scientist with a background in physiology and neuroscience, I bring extensive practical knowledge and experience along with infinite curiosity and reverence for the immense complexity and beautiful diversity of bodies to my practice.
Extensively trauma-informed and intimately acquainted with both logical and empirical approaches to problem solving, my strength lies in my intuition, trusting nature and the unknown along with sensing and honoring the rhythms unique to every being.
I am proudly a humble, tremendously passionate conduit for harmony and healing.
A Licensed Massage Therapist since 2015, Aiko came to massage after 25 years of working with bodies in motion; as a dancer, teacher and choreographer. Still dancing, albeit at a much slower pace, and now a mother of two young children, Aiko is deeply interested in the intersection of massage, movement and somatic practices and the connections between dis-comfort, dysfunction and our habits of daily life. She specializes in full-body wellness massage, blending Swedish and deep tissue work to calm the nervous system, reduce stress, increase range of motion and reduce pain. Aiko works slowly and patiently, listening and taking cues from the body and integrating her intuitive sensibility around movement, touch, and muscular tone, to create space for awareness and change. Utilizing both passive and active techniques, a session might include gentle calming strokes, Manual Ligament Therapy, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy techniques, assisted stretches, and more, depending on the client’s preferences and needs. Aiko enjoys working with her clients at their comfort level and is honored to be part of their wellness routine. You can reach Aiko for scheduling via email at [email protected]
